Let clients register themselves and sign your consent document

Client Area & Consent

The Client Area is a locked registration screen. Hand your device to a new client, and they enter their own details, read your consent document and sign it. The rest of ellume stays locked until you enter your passcode.

What do I need to set up first?

Two things, both in Settings under Preferences:

  1. Kiosk Passcode: a 4-digit code that unlocks ellume again.
  2. Consent Document: the PDF your clients read before they sign.

The Client Area cannot save a registration without a consent document, because every client has to sign it.

Open Settings > Consent Document

Tap Upload file

Choose a PDF of up to 10 MB.

You can have one consent document. Tap View to check it. To replace it, delete it with the trash icon and upload the new file.

ellume saves the client's signature, not a signed copy of the PDF. It does not record which version of your consent document a client signed. If you replace the document, keep your own copy of the old version.

How do I set the kiosk passcode?

Open Settings > Kiosk Passcode, enter a 4-digit code and confirm it. To change it later, you need to enter the current code first.

How do I start the Client Area?

Tap Client Area on the dashboard. If you have not set a passcode yet, ellume asks you to set one first.

From now on, ellume only shows the registration screen. This stays the case after the app is closed and reopened.

What does the client fill in?

The registration screen has three tabs:

  • First name, last name and birthday (required)
  • Email, phone, address, postal code, city and preferred contact (optional). If the client chooses a social network as preferred contact, they also enter their handle.
  • The consent: the client reads your consent document and signs it on the screen (required)

Photos taken with the camera or chosen from the device, for example reference pictures.

A note with a headline and text. The client can also dictate it. The note is only saved if it has a headline.

When the client saves, ellume shows Client registered successfully and clears the form for the next person. The new client appears in your client list.

The Client Area needs an internet connection to save a registration.

How do I leave the Client Area?

Tap the X in the top left and enter your kiosk passcode. ellume returns to the dashboard.

While the Client Area is active, the app can only be unlocked with the passcode. Keep it somewhere safe.

When you create or edit a client yourself:

ellume opens your consent document.

Let the client read it, then tap the check icon

The client signs on the screen

Tap Clear signature to start again.

Tap the check icon and save the client

The signature appears in the client's About tab.

If you turn the consent off for a client with a saved signature, ellume asks what to do. Remove signature turns the consent off and deletes the signature. Keep signature leaves the consent on.

In the client list, use the filter Has consent.
